ITANAGAR: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra, who is on an official tour, met the Defence Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in the National Capital New Delhi on 20th December 2017.
The Governor briefed the Defence Minister regarding the border security environment and the high morale of the soldiers deployed in the border areas of the State. He also apprised the minister about the coordinating interaction which he had with the GOC 3 Corps and the GOC 4 Corps, the Formation Commanders, whose troops are deployed on Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Defence Minister appreciated the Army Jawan’s good work and welfare activities, which they are rendering to the civil population in border areas.
During the meeting, it was resolved that more welfare schemes will be introduced for the civilians by the Indian Army in coming months.
At the initiative of the Governor, it was decided that eight villages, which have been identified by the Army in the forward most segment of the International border, will be developed into self sustaining units with proper living amenities for the people living in those villages.
The Governor suggested to the Defence Minister for early start of work for the Sainik Schools in the State. It was decided that the foundation stone of the Sainik Schools will be laid as early as possible and construction work must commence latest by February 2018
Earlier in the day, the Governor also met the Chief (COAS) of the Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat at the Army Headquarters, New Delhi. They discussed about the ensuing Army recruitment drive in the State of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor requested the Army Chief to conduct pre-recruitment programmes in every district of the Frontier State of Arunachal Pradesh to motivate and encourage maximum number of abled youth to join the Indian Army. This will not only provide ample employment avenues to the youth of Arunachal Pradesh but also give them an opportunity to serve the country.
The COAS assured that Army teams will go to every district to help the prospective army recruitment candidates in documentation, physical fitness and train them to compete in the recruitment, scheduled to be in the second week of February 2018.
The COAS instructed the Director General Army Recruitment, who was called in the meeting specifically for the purpose, to render all helps to the youth in all districts of Arunachal Pradesh so that they can be selected for the army.
